First, we want to say thank you for your patience, your messages, and your continued belief in what Write With Light Publications set out to be.
We also owe you an apology.
It has been far too long since we’ve been able to accept book review submissions, and even longer since many of you heard back from us at all. That silence was never intentional, and it was never a reflection of how deeply we value the indie writing community. You deserved better communication from us.
Why We’ve Been MIA
Behind the scenes, the last few years have brought challenges we weren’t prepared for.
Write With Light Publications grew faster than we anticipated, and as a very small team, we struggled to keep up with the volume of submissions we received.
As we worked to regain our footing, in February 2024, our founder, father, and husband, Jim Solo, unexpectedly passed away from a severe stroke. His loss deeply impacted us—both personally and professionally—and much of 2024 and 2025 were spent grieving his passing and trying to find our footing again.
During that time, the services we promised indie authors fell away from us. That is on us, and we’re genuinely sorry to every author who reached out and didn’t receive a response. Your work mattered then, and it still matters now.
We’re writing today because we’re ready to move forward with care, honesty, and realistic boundaries. That means we are slowly working through your messages to respond to your needs. For those of you who have been waiting a while and have moved on to other options, we apologize for making you wait.
What’s Changing
Art is needed now more than ever.
We are reopening our book review submission form and will begin accepting new titles again. Because we are still a very small team, we’ll be pacing ourselves and taking on only what we can responsibly handle. Both reviewers work full-time, but are making steps to pursue this work full-time.
To help support sustainability and turnaround times, we will also be offering optional expedited reviews for a fee, but aim to keep things as affordable as possible for all authors. We know firsthand that being an indie author often means working with limited resources, and accessibility remains important to us.
We are also opening up our editing services again and will continue to publish free tips and tricks on how to effectively publish indie.
Our Commitment to You
Write With Light Publications was founded to uplift indie authors and shine light on stories that might otherwise be overlooked. That mission hasn’t changed.
What has changed is our understanding of our limits and our commitment to clearer communication moving forward. We may not be able to review every book, but we promise to be honest, respectful, and intentional with the work we take on.
Thank you for your patience. Thank you for your grace. And thank you for continuing to create brave, beautiful work in a world that needs it.
