Stephanie Gifford and her family live in a small town in Colorado. Her husband co-owns a landscape company and she works part-time as a registered nurse (RN).

Stephanie and her husband tried to get pregnant for the first six years of their marriage without success. They tried multiple fertility treatments, but nothing worked. Their journey with foster care began in 2009 when they became certified as foster/adopt parents within their community.

From 2010 to 2013 they adopted three children, all with different backgrounds and have had their oldest daughter since birth. Stephanie and her husband met their daughter’s birth mom when she was 16 weeks pregnant with her and more or less adopted the birth mom as well. Stephanie and her husband brought both her birth mom and their new daughter, Brielle, home from the hospital.

The birth mom only stayed with them for about three days after delivering Brielle because her grandparents were out of town during the time she delivered.

The next child for Stephanie and her husband was, Jonathan. He was a foster child and was placed with them when he was 19 months old.  Then there is their last child and youngest daughter, Payton, who was also a foster child. Payton was two and a half years old when she was placed with Stephanie and her husband.

Stephanie’s wish is to bring hope to those who have endured fertility treatments without success. She is motivated to spread awareness to parents, informing them there are many children who need a good loving home right in their own communities.

“I support children being adopted from anywhere,” Stephanie says. “because no matter what, all children near and far, deserve a loving home where they can thrive. They WILL thrive if given the chance. Our three little blessings are living proof of ‘thriving if given the chance.’”
