About BE.aGaIN
The title for the first poetry collection by the internationally published Irish poet Algo came to him in a dream. It revealed itself as a misinterpreted road sign, at a crossroads, which mirrored his waking life.
BE.aGaIN is a debut collection of poetry about loss and self-discovery, written during the darkness of a global pandemic but also during a long dark night of the soul.
These poems dig deep to find a way out and a way forward, a way to begin again, or simply be again.
These 50 poems take the reader on a journey through childhood, religion, relationships, the nature of existence itself and the toughest battle of all, the one with one’s own mind.
Kelly’s Honest Review
Beautifully relatable.
So many of these poems hit me like a truck. As I read through some of them, I couldn’t help but mutter to myself, “yes, this is me.”
One of my absolute favorites was “Coming Soon (To A Life Near You).” That was the one that tugged so hard on my heart. “General Anxiety and Major Depression” was another favorite. I loved the way certain things were personified and made relatable to me.
I also like that the poems were easy to understand. Sometimes, poetry can feel so cryptic that it’s hard to enjoy, but I didn’t feel that with this book of poetry.
I also appreciated the questioning and pondering of human existence that appears throughout each poem. It felt similar to things I often question or ponder in my own life.
Book Cover Rating
Although a simple cover with not much to it, I always love a black cover with a bold white title.
Overall Score: B
