Are you a who-done-it fan? Like a good murder mystery filled with action and told in the style of vintage detective novels?

Do Nothing: A Griffin Knight Murder Mystery Thriller will feed your inner detective as you sleuth your way through this short story of murder and intrigue set in the Burroughs of New York City.

So sit down, put on your detective cap, and let’s journey through a stirring mystery.

About Do Nothing: A Griffin Knight Murder Mystery Thriller

This story follows Detective Griffin Knight as he maneuvers well-laid snares to find a murderer out to settle a score. Do Nothing unfolds at a quick pace in the style of a classic detective story with our lead character—a man in a worn leather jacket rather than a nostalgic trench coat.

The story is filled with diverse characters and witty conversations. There are mysterious packages, hooded figures who vanish in the night, questionable vehicles in unlikely places, corporate corruption, and entertaining fight scenes.

It’s a quick read with a finish that invites you to embark on a second chase (spoiler: there is another book coming).

Kathleen’s Honest Review

This was a fun read.

Do Nothing reminds me of the Ellery Queen mysteries from days gone by for its no-nonsense delivery of a mystery in need of being solved. The storytelling is quick and direct, with plenty of details to hold your interest without weighing you down.

The main character, Griffin Knight, is the personification of a modern-day detective. Clad in a worn leather jacket, he zips—or rather chugs—his way around New York City in a broken-down Toyota.

The characters are distinct and engaging. Their relationships are a weave of intrigue inside the story itself. There’s blood and knives and guns—obviously because it’s a murder mystery—but the use of these items enhances your desire to find the killer.

I could feel the film noir vibe and was delighted to discover there will be another adventure to be solved.

If you like a quick bit of intrigue to challenge your sleuthing abilities, Do Nothing is a must-read.

Kathleen’s Favorite Quotes

“James Dean, eat your heart out.”

(Such a great line by our detective as he shakes out his bed head, pops in a breath mint, and heads out to the crime scene.)

“Detective Knight, Griffin”.

“Seriously? That’s your real name? What are you, some kind of action hero? Detective Griffin Knight, played by Mark Wahlberg in the action hit of the summer.”

(This dialogue was priceless to me. I mean, seriously, with that name, the guy was destined to be a detective. Well done, Mr. and Mrs. Knight!)

Book Cover Rating

Let me start with the stark colors of red, white, and black, which are absolute attention grabbers.

This cover design tells you just enough about what’s inside.

The hooded figure is a focal character that consumes a great deal of the cover, with a spider spinning the complex web that is this story. And what appears to be a series of graphic horizontal lines are, in fact, a sideways silhouette of the New York City skyline—the setting for this tale.

The crumple lines give the cover additional texture and also elude to the fact this murder has a history.

Well done, Miguel!

Overall Rating: A
